LOST IN THE DISCO an immersive musical featuring Disco Classics coming Off-Broadway this November

 

LOST IN THE DISCO is a unique experience of immersive theater, where the audience is directly involved within the performance, and where actors/dancers/singers are performing among the public. The greatest Disco Classics will surround this love story, punctuated with comedy, where cast members act and sing among the audience and invite them to join the dance floor. Lost in the Disco will play 4 performances in the unique decor of the Angel Orensanz Foundation (172 Norfolk Street New York 10002) from November 6th to December 3rd 2019. This experience will plunge you back in the golden age of disco time and craziness of the legendary Studio 54 with classics by Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Michael Jackson, Le Chic, Shalamar, Taste of Honey, Saturday Night Fever, Earth Wind & Fire, and many more to be performed by a versatile 9 members cast.

 

World renowned French film director Lisa Azuelos has directed French iconic films such as LOL with Sophie Marceau and its U.S version starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. She met with opera singer, director and producer David Serero during the 2019 New York Sephardic Jewish Film Festival (Produced by Serero for the American Sephardi Federation) where Azuelos received the Pomegranate Award for Best Director. Azuelos and Serero both shared their love for Disco music and immersive theater, and decided to write a musical called « Lost in the Disco ».

Performances are November 6th at 8pm; November 8th at 8pm (SOLD OUT); November 18th at 8pm; December 3rd at 8pm at the Angel Orensanz Foundation located at 172 Norfolk Street, New York NY 10002, in the heart of the historical Lower East Side.

About LISA AZUELOS (Writer / Director) 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lisa Azuelos is a French writer, producer, and director known for iconic films, such as LOL with Sophie Marceau, that she directed in the U.S and starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, QUANTUM LOVE with Sophie Marceau and François Cluzet, and the biopic DALIDA with Sveva Alviti and Riccardo Scamarcio. Her long awaited and critically acclaimed new feature MON BÉBÉ with Sandrine Kiberlain and Thaïs Alessandrin, has just been released in March 2019. . Lisa Azuelos is also the prolific author of 6 novels as well as an essay. She is strongly involved in defending women’s rights all around the world, through her foundation “YOLOVE” named after the title of the documentary she produced and directed this year. Appointed by French President Emmanuel Macron and State Secretary Marlène Schiappa, Lisa Azuelos is a member of the G7 Advisory Committee for Gender Equality, alongside fellow activists and female leaders.

 

About DAVID SERERO (Writer / Director / Producer / Barry)

Actor and baritone, David Serero, has received international recognition and critical acclaim from all over the world. At 38 years old, he has already performed more than 2,000 concerts and performances throughout the world, played in over 100 films and recorded 20 albums. He entered the prestigious Who's Who America for demonstrating outstanding achievements in the entertainment world and for the betterment of contemporary society. In 2019, he received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, the Morocco Day Distinguished Achievement Award, and the Trophy of the Culture of Morocco and has been honored by Royal Air Maroc as one of the 15 most influential moroccans worldwide. David Serero is a member of the Recording Academy and of the Television Academy and a voting member both of the Grammys and Emmys. He has given concerts in Paris at the Opera Garnier, Olympia, Eiffel Tower; in New York at the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Times Square; in London at the Royal College of Music, Wembley Stadium; and in Moscow at the Tchaikovsky Hall; in Amsterdam at the Concertgebouw, the Budapest Opera conducted by Placido Domingo and more. He made his sold out West End debuts at the Dominion Theatre. He has sung more than 30 lead roles in Opera, Operetta and Musical Theater. In his extensive discography, he has recorded Cast Album Recording of iconic roles such as Shakespeare's Richard III and world Premiere adaptations. He is also the founder and producer of several music and film festivals.

During the 2017/2018 season in New York, David Serero starred as Cyrano De Bergerac  (Rostand), Don Giovanni (Mozart), Barabas (Marlowe's Jew of Malta), King Ahasuerus (from musical Queen Esther's Dilemma), King Lear (Jacob Gordin's The Yiddish King Lear), Napoleon's title role from Napoleon by Stanley Kubrick.

 

For the 2018/19 season in New York, David starred as Nabucco's title role, Romeo (Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in a Jewish adaptation), Figaro (Mozart's Marriage of Figaro) which he directed and adapted. Grace Guadagnino (Lisa)

Grace Guadagnino is thrilled to be making her Off Broadway debut in Lost in the Disco. She grew up in Rochester, NY, and graduated from RIT. Last March, she played the manic-depressive Jordan in “Behind Glass Walls” directed by Broadway stunt coordinator Joe DiNozzi. She co-directed the comedic short play “The Man Goes Woo,” which premiered at the NY Thespis Theatre Festival. She is currently recording an EP with her band, Moonwillow. She would like to thank David Serero and Lisa Azuelos for their direction, and her parents, Nick, Ava, Natalie, Chef and all her friends who continue to support her acting journey!

Dylan Goike (James)

Christopher was most recently seen as Dr. Caius in The Hudson Warehouse's outdoor production of The Merry Wives of Windsor by W. Shakespeare. Prior notable roles he has played include Wes in Lanford Wilson's Fifth of July and Charlie Brown in Dog Sees God. Christopher is originally from Larnaca, Cyprus and is fluent in English and Greek. He is a graduate of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. 

Tieisha Thomas (Angelina)

Tieisha Thomas is New York City Native hailing from Queens, New York. She discovered her love of music at a young age through the influences of her vibrant Caribbean culture. Tieisha attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High school of the Arts for Voice and soon after received her Bachelors Degree in Theater Arts from SUNY Buffalo State. She was most recently seen in the Off- Broadway production of the Public Works Musical Adaptation of Disneys “HERCULES” as Melepomene, one of the beloved greek chorus Muses. She continues to nurture her passion for the arts on and off the stage. She offers one on one classes for young adults and budding artists looking to further their discovery of themselves through theater. When she’s not performing, she enjoys creatively developing her own original content, dancing and snapping crab legs at her favorite seafood spot! 

Lawrence Neals (Mike)

A proud native of  New York City and Drama graduate of the original “Fame” NY School of Performing Arts, Lawrence has performed around the world since age 9.  Credits include: the title role in Julie Taymor’s (Dir. Broadway’s The Lion King) musical, Juan Darien; Smokey Joe’s Café, Rent, and most recently Soul in Your Stocking, Disco Live!, Motor City Live!, Freedom’s Song: A New Musical, the NY Cosplay Cabaret.  Vocalist: New York Shakespeare Company, NY Philharmonic Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center.  Along with performing his salute to Motown and classic soul,“Nightshift”  he is also the Founder/Creative Director of the GeekLifeRules, a sci-fi/pop culture entertainment endeavor and producer of Geek events around the country including the NY Cosplay Cabaret.”

Louis Bluehart (Gael)

Louis is a professional singer/songwriter and performer originally from the island of Cyprus. He is a graduate student in Musical Theatre from Columbia College Chicago where he performed in Oklahoma!, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. In the Summer of 2017 he was part of the Musical Theatre Program at The School at Jacob's Pillow. At the age of thirteen, he represented Cyprus at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bucharest, Romania. For the last year Louis lives and works in New York as a singer/performer for the Cyprus New York Productions and The Pancyprian Choir of New York where he performed the lead role in the original musical "In Foreign Land”. 

Raquel Reigns (Giselle)

Raquel Reigns is thrilled to join the cast of Lost in the Disco. She hails from a small town on the central coast of California. She lived and performed in Los Angeles for 8 years before joining the cruise ship world as a guest entertainer. Some of her favorite countries visited are: Japan, Thailand, Australia and Mexico. Raquel is happiest singing in public. You can listen to her new single California on Spotify and music platforms. Enjoy the show!

Mary Nikols (Sam)

MARY NIKOLS is thrilled to be making her New York debut! Mary recently graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Utah where she played Florence Vassy in Chess, Olympia in Big Love, Sarah in Company and King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar. Regional credits include Grease, In the Heights and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Pioneer Theatre Company. Thank you to David and Lisa for this awesome opportunity! Clarissa Boston (Cate)

Clarissa is excited to be debuting Off Broadway in a show with disco music!! Originally from Utah, Clarissa has a BFA in Acting from Utah State University and although misses the mountains, loves being in the city! Since arriving, she has been working in the New York cabaret and live entertainment scene and having a blast. Many thanks to Justin, Pa and Mom who instilled my love for disco as a child cleaning the house dancing to the Bee Gees.
